LAST ENTRY FOR PBEY 3102~ BLOGGING~ 1. What do you like about blogging? Blogging allow me to learn a lot of new things. Plus, it is so interesting! 2. What you do not like about blogging? Nothing! In fact I like it. It just that sometime, it difficult to blogging regarding to internet problem. 3. What have you gained from blogging e.g. Language skills, improved fluency, critical thinking, improved thought processes, technology skills etc. How? Honestly speaking, blogging improved me a lot in all skills, especially critical thinking. This is because, I need to think critically every times I’m about to write a new entry. 4. What do you like about this course? I like learning a lot of new software that I have never heard of before. All those software are really use full to me as a future teacher to be. 5. What you do not like about this course? May be time constrain. Since time is quite short, it is a bit difficult to all of us especially when it comes to completing task given by the lecturer. However, the task is actually very helpful in term of giving us a better understanding about what we have learned. 6. What have you learnt from this course? There are so many things. Especially about how to prepare a good plan and teaching aids to children in the primary classroom. 7. What have you learnt from this course that you did not expect to? Actually, when I first enter into this course, my expectation is that I’m going to do a lot of hands on activity. I thought that I am about to used a lot of materials such as manila card, mahjong paper, and color paper. But then, I realize that the resources that I am going to learn in this course are about the technology thingy. I must say that all the things that I learned are very current and suitable with the learning environment today. 8. What have u expected but do not learn from this course? Like I said, it is my expectation about the hands on activity. 9. Comments regarding modules: 1. Internet and computing skills a. What do you like about this module? This module teaches me on how to download a lot of new software which I found very difficult to download before. Now, since I have been able to download software that I want, my work become easier that before. b. What do you not like about this module? Some of the instructions are not clear and confusing. Some of the steps are wrong. This had caused us to spend a lot of time in completing certain part inside the module. c. What do you like about the task given for this module? The task allows me to apply the skill that I have learned from the module. d. What do you not like about the task given for this module? Nothing. There are all very useful. e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module? Downloading and searching for suitable resources from the internet. f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom? The skills give me a wider option in terms of planning my lesson. Meaning to say that, I can get any resources which are suitable as my teaching aids. 2. Photo Editing a. What do you like about this module? This module makes me become creative. I like to edit a picture and done something differently with it. Software like Adobe Photoshop is really interesting. b. What do you not like about this module? Nothing. In fact, I love to do the entire tutorial in this module. There are very interesting. c. What do you like about the task given for this module? There are interesting to be done and challenging at the same time. They really improve my photo editing skill. d. What do you not like about the task given for this module? All the tasks are good in term of helping me to be more equipping with all skill that I learnt. So, there is nothing about the task that I don’t like. e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module? Editing photo to be used in the primary classroom. f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom? The skills allow me to do variety activity in the classroom. I don’t need to buy picture from the shop, instead I can edit any picture to make it suitable to be used in the classroom. 3. Audio Editing Skills a. What do you like about this module? The module teaches me to be creative. I learnt just like a composer who edits a song. It is fun. b. What do you not like about this module? Some of the steps are wrong. As the result, I lost my time and it makes it difficult for me to complete on time. c. What do you like about the task given for this module? There are challenging enough and allow me to apply all the skill learnt from the module. d. What do you not like about the task given for this module? Nothing. e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module? Composing a song suitable for primary school children. f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom? I can produce my own song or script to be used during listening and reading lesson. I don’t need to search or buy resources from the store. 4. Video Editing Skills a. What do you like about this module? I learnt how to produce a short movie. For a while, I can imagine myself as a movie director. b. What do you not like about this module? I like the whole things. c. What do you like about the task given for this module? They are interesting. For example, the task of producing a video is so exciting. We all feel excited when we watch our own video that we have produced. d. What do you not like about the task given for this module? None. e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module? The specific skill is editing video suitable for young learner especially the primary school children f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom? I can make learning to be so much fun. With my skill in video editing, I can make as much video as possible which are enough to be used in teaching. 5. Software for ELT a. What do you like about this module? I learnt to produce a lot of kits which can be used in teaching. For example is brochure. I can make my own brochure and introduce pupils with different places in Malaysia. b. What do you not like about this module? Nothing. c. What do you like about the task given for this module? They make me design a lot of things. I found it very interesting. d. What do you not like about the task given for this module? No, there is nothing I don’t like. In fact, I m thankful for giving a chance to do all the task. e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module? Designing fun and interesting kits for children. f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom? The skills allow me to produce as many kits as I want. In every lesson, I can use them and make learning interesting. I am sure; pupils will love a teacher who can grab their attention with his/her creativity in preparing teaching aids. 10. If you can change anything about this course, state what is and elaborate? Actually, everything is already very good. But, if I am about to make some changes, I would suggest that the assignment and task need to be structured and firm especially when it comes to the details and the instruction. On a scale of 1 – 10, please rate your computing and technological skills for both before and after undergoing the course. Before undergoing the course, I find that it is very difficult to prepare teaching aids to be used in teaching. My knowledge is very limited. I do not even know that songs can be downloaded for free. But then, after undergoing this course, I’m so happy to learn about so many things. I have a confident that I can prepare a lot of teaching aids to children. I also know how to make learning fun and interesting due to my knowledge on editing video, making e-book, producing a movie, and etc. I can rank myself as 8!

Final Week Reflection

This is our final week for this semester. Hmm! Final week??? I’m a little bit shock to find out that this is really my final week. Why? This is because I don’t realize that time have passed very fast. It must be because I’ve been so busy with so many works recently. To be honest, I feel sad to close my diary here in resources class. In this final entry, I’m going to reflect about my whole journey in resources class.

When the first time I step into this class, I’m a little bit worried. This is because my expectation towards this course is I’m going to be drowned with many work. My expectation become true when our lecturer told us to prepare since there are a lot of work will be waiting for us. I thought that she just want to scared us, but then, when I received the first module, o.m.g, what she said is exactly true. However, I didn’t want to give up so easily. I told myself that there must be a reason why she gave us so many works.

The first module is very thick. When I look at it, I feel down, I don’t think that I can finish all of it. However, when I try the first tutorial, I found that it is not so difficult. Instead, all of the tutorials are new to me. Starting from that moment, I have a positive thinking towards the entire tutorial in the module. There are all very useful to me. Some are difficult, but still interesting to be done. Day by day pass by, I finally done the entire tutorial in all modules.

So, here I’m, feeling proud to myself. I believe that I’m a different person now. I can still remember the words that our lecturer told us, ‘the entire module will prepare you to be a good and better teacher. They will help you to survive in any situation when you are teaching later on’. Thanks to her, her word of wisdom is absolutely true.

Now, I have a lot of new knowledge. I learned about new software that I’ve never heard of before. I learned to do something that I think impossible before. I’ve develop a lot of skill inside me. This is all because of the training that I received from this course. Honestly speaking, this course is not an easy one. A lot of works need to be done, a lot of practise should be followed and completed.

For example, after we have finish with the module, we still need to do the task. The task is to ensure that we have understood on what we have done in the module. To me, the task is very good in term of test and evaluating our understanding and our skill. It is like an on-going assessment which allows the lecturer to assess our progress in learning. Even though there were so tiring, the benefit that we get is priceless. All the experiences would be very helpful to all of us. I believe that if we can apply all the knowledge that we gain from this course, all of us will be a very excellent teacher in the future.

Finally, I want to take this opportunity to thank my lecturer Puan Foziah binti Mahmod for everything. Without her guide, I don’t think that I can gain so much knowledge and experience. Not to be forgotten are all my friends that I ever worked with in completing any tasks during this course. Thanks to all... =) =) =) =) =) =)
