14th Week Reflection

This is our 14^th week. We almost come to the end of our learning in this course. As for this week, we have been introduced with kits.

Kits are something that can be used in many ways. There are like brochure, calendar, poster, and etc. All of these kits are very useful especially for teacher. For example, teacher can use them to teach pupils in the classroom. Let say I want to teach pupils about the topic of vacation. I can prepare a lot of things in order to promote and introduce about places to my pupils.

For example, the place which I have chosen is Pulau Pangkor. So, I would like to promote Pulau Pangkor to them. First, I can show them a poster which shows a lot of interesting pictures of Pulau Pangkor. For example, there are some pictures of Blue Ocean, foods, interesting activities, and etc.

After that, to give detail and information about the vacation or package in Pulau Pangkor, I will give them a brochure. In the brochure, I can put down some information such as a hotel for them to stay, a price for them to pay, and much other information. Now, can you see how helpful is the kits to be used in the classroom?

Besides that, I can make activity like role play for my pupils in the classroom. For example, in group, they have to act like a tourist who want to make a vacation. In order to go for a vacation, they need to plan and decided on which place they should go, how much budget they should have. After that, one of the members in the group will act as an agent of the tourism. This agent will try to persuade the tourist to choose him as their tourist guide. Therefore, he/she needs to tell a story about the place as to show that he/she can really be a good tourist guide.

Do you see now how teacher can manipulate all those kits to be used in classroom?

Now, let me explain briefly about our last module, that is module 5. Module 5 for me, is the most interesting one. It is about how to use different software to produce kits. I found that all the software were interesting. I can’t wait to use them when I was ready to teach in the future!

13th Week Reflection

This is my thirteen week entry. For this week I’m going to tell about our activity in class and explain briefly about module 4.

First of all, our lecturer shows a video from the u-tube. According to her, this week, we are about to work in pairs and produce our own video which can be used to teach any topic in primary classroom. As for me and my partner, we decided to chose the topic ‘love’ which will be telling a story of a child who dedicate a song to describe about his love towards his mother.

First of all, in order to produce a video, we need a Movie Maker Software. Movie Maker Software is a software which can be used to produce a movie. What we need are; pictures, song, and any videos. After that, we started to arrange all the files we have and produce a movie based on our own story line.

To complete one short movie will take about 1 to 2 hours (for beginners like me lah). Even though it took a lot of time, we are happy when we manage to complete our own movie.

Now, let us talk about module 4. Basically, module 4 is about how to edit video. There is a lot of software that can be used to edit video. One of it was Windows Movie Maker, which I have explained earlier. This module is actually very good in terms of giving me a lot of new ideas on how to conduct a good and interesting lesson in the classroom. If teacher have the knowledge on how to edit video, he or she will be able to have a very interesting activity in the classroom. One good thing of having this knowledge is, teacher can edit any video as to match with the topic of the lesson.

So far, I have done 5 videos on my own. I’m kind of addicted to this software now!hehehe... Hopefully, the knowledge I gained from this module will be able to be applied in the future to help me become a good and talented English teacher!

12th Week Reflection

Hye everyone... This is my 12^th entry! I wonder what I want to share with everyone this time. Hmm... Last time, our lecturer introduce to us about e-book. What is e-book?

An electronic book (also e-book, ebook, digital book) is a text and image-based publication in digital form produced on, published by, and readable on computers or other digital devices." ^[1] Sometimes the equivalent of a conventional printed book, e-books can also be born digital. The Oxford Dictionary of English defines the e-book as "an electronic version of a printed book,"^[2] but e-books can and do exist without any printed equivalent. E-books are usually read on dedicated hardware devices known as e-Readers or e-book devices. Personal computers and some cell phones can also be used to read e-books.

So, now can you imagine what and how e-book look like? Hmm, this time around, we were asked to produce our own e-book. O.m.g! How? Difficult lah! Hard lah! Hehehe... Those were our first impression when we received the task. But then, after being introduced of the e-book by our lecturer, we found that e-book is not so difficult to be done. Instead, we all like it very much. Some of my friends even produced a very good e-book which I think children in the primary classroom will like it very much!

Honestly speaking, e-book is not so difficult to be done, and yet very interesting to be used in the classroom. What we need to have in order to make an e-book are; pictures, and audio files. Then, we can choose and insert those file into our book which have been produced in the power point software. After that, we can present our e-book to be seen by our pupils in the classroom! See! As easy and as simple as that!

Hopefully, for those who read this entry will agree with me and be interested to try to produce their own e-book...hehehe... bye!
